These words epitomize the writings of Professor N.Subrahmanian who was a seeker of truth, after truth till the end of his life and unmindful of adverse estimation, he carried aloft the torch of Truth. This nonagenarian, Tamil Vidvan, historian, translator, poet, critic, short story writer, psychobiographer, orator and above all, a humanist, achieved the acme of excellence with his 170 books that bear testimony to his quest for truth. He realized that he had travelled through two different worlds, through the turbulence of the pre and post colonial India, through the scientific, industrial and computer revolutions. While rejoicing many aspects of the new world, he was agonized by the decadence of cherished old world values. But his characteristic equipoise came to his rescue and made him take the changes at their stride with an ascetic temperament and a stoic resolve. His chequered career reached its apogee and came to a peaceful close at the age of ninety nine.
